Spicy French Dressing
Spicy French Dressing is a sharp, full-flavored vinaigrette built from equal parts oil and vinegar, then seasoned with cayenne, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
The optional honey or agave softens the acidity and heat. It should dissolve completely, just as the mustard should be mixed in without leaving small clumps.
This dressing is assertive enough for simple green salads, sliced tomatoes, or vegetables with onion and herbs. A little goes a long way once the spices are evenly dispersed.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup olive oil, flaxseed oil, or hemp oil
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, or another vinegar
- Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dry English mustard or Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons honey or agave nectar, optional
Method
Combine all ingredients in a jar and mix or shake thoroughly. Continue until the optional honey or agave has dissolved and the mustard is fully dispersed without clumps. Taste and adjust the seasoning before serving. Makes about 1 cup.
