Ameeta’s Sliced Tofu with Green Onions & Cilantro

Ameeta’s Sliced Tofu with Green Onions & Cilantro is a chilled marinated tofu dish rather than a cooked curry, so the dressing does most of the flavor work.

The tofu is drained and dried before slicing. Soy sauce or Bragg seasoning, ginger, sesame oil, Dijon, and lemon are shaken together and used as the marinade.

After at least thirty minutes, cilantro, green onion, sesame seeds, and optional chili flakes are added. The final dish is tossed gently and served without further cooking.

Ingredients

  • 1 package firm tofu, about 1 1/2 cups
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried red chili flakes, optional
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or Bragg seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

Method

Drain the tofu, wrap it in a dish towel, and let it dry. Shake the soy sauce or Bragg seasoning, ginger, sesame oil, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice together in a jar. Slice the tofu about 1/2 inch thick, place it in a medium bowl, and pour the dressing over it. Marinate for at least 30 minutes. Add the cilantro, green onions, sesame seeds, and optional chili flakes, toss gently, and serve. Makes 4–6 servings.
