Where You Want to Be Can Be a Way to Begin
Ask where you want to be and a location may come to mind. Perhaps it is a different home, a settled job, or a future in which the urgent problems have been handled. Those aims can be real. They may also leave a quieter question unanswered: how do you want to meet your life while you pursue them?
For some of us, the answer includes being more at ease with ourselves, more truthful in our relationships, or more willing to act without waiting to feel complete. None of these is a permanent destination. They can be a way to begin from where we are.
That begins with plain honesty. We can name what is unfinished without making it our whole identity. We can say what we want without claiming it is already here. From there, a conversation or a choice can take on a different quality.
The place we want to come from may be available in a small act before the place we want to arrive at is in sight.
