We can choose how to meet a life without claiming to have won over it. Choosing a relationship, a responsibility, or the day as it is does not make every condition desirable. It means no longer waiting for those conditions to lose before we can participate.
This is a different use of victory: a stance rather than a scoreboard. It is not achieved by declaring ourselves victorious and ignoring what needs repair. The choice becomes real in how we act with the circumstances and people already here.
No one else has to be defeated for that choice to matter. The life in front of us is not an opponent.
