Acceptance is not agreeing that every event should have happened.
It is recognizing the part that has already happened before deciding what can still be influenced.
The deterministic claim that life simply lives us goes too far.
So does the fantasy that a sufficiently disciplined person can command every important outcome.
Between those extremes is participation.
We choose, respond, plan, refuse, repair, and create.
At the same time, reality contributes variables of its own.
Agency becomes more credible, not less, when it includes the boundary of control.
