The Salty Lassi

The Salty Lassi is a straightforward yogurt drink seasoned with crushed cumin and salt, then diluted with water until smooth.

There is no heating or resting stage. The entire recipe is whisked together directly in a pitcher, which keeps the preparation quick.

The proportion of three cups water to one cup yogurt makes this much lighter than a spoonable raita while preserving the tang of the yogurt and the aroma of cumin.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon whole cumin seeds, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups water

Method

Combine the yogurt, crushed cumin, salt, and water in a pitcher. Whisk until completely smooth and serve. Makes 4 servings.
