Standards
Standards are benchmarks by which we assess performance or integrity. They make a commitment more concrete: what would count as keeping our word, doing the work, or meeting a requirement?
An ideal can point toward what we value without supplying a usable measure. A standard asks for something we can actually examine. The distinction matters when a vague aspiration begins to stand in for an accountable promise.
