Shelley’s Garlic Ginger Tea
Shelley’s Garlic Ginger Tea combines garlic, fresh ginger, cayenne, water, lemon, and optional maple syrup or honey.
Garlic, cayenne, and ginger simmer together for a full 30 minutes, giving this tea a much stronger base than the shorter ginger infusion on the same page.
The finished liquid is strained before serving. Sweetener and lemon are added at the end, allowing the final sharpness and sweetness to be adjusted to taste.
Ingredients
- 4 cloves garlic
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- 4 teaspoons fresh ginger, chopped
- 4–6 cups water
- Maple syrup to taste, or honey, optional
- Squeeze of lemon, to taste
Method
Combine the garlic, cayenne, ginger, and water in a large pot over high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Strain, then add maple syrup or honey if desired and finish with lemon to taste. Makes 4 servings.
