Calm Can Come From Changing Our Relationship to Thought

Calm is often imagined as reduced mental traffic.

Fewer thoughts.

Less noise.

No worry.

Sometimes calm does follow quiet.

Another route is relational.

The thoughts continue, but their authority changes.

A worry can be noticed as worry.

A prediction can be noticed as prediction.

An angry thought can appear without becoming an action plan.

This is not a promise that severe anxiety can be solved through perspective alone.

Clinical distress deserves appropriate support.

The narrower observation is that thought and obedience to thought are different processes.

A busy mind can become less frightening when each thought is no longer required to mean something urgent about reality.

Calm may come from fewer thoughts.

It can also come from needing less from each thought that appears.
