Stand
To stand with someone is to choose a relationship of support and responsibility. The choice need not depend on the other person asking for protection or offering the same support in return.
Standing with another person should still honor their ability and integrity. It does not require treating them as helpless or speaking for them without consent. The stand is a conscious choice about how we will be present, not a claim of ownership over their choices.
