Relationships: Being Satisfied
A relationship can become organized around complaint, score-keeping, or the need to be right. The same facts are rehearsed, and little new action becomes available.
Completion is a stand we take toward what is unfinished. It is not pretending nothing happened or waiting for a mood to change. We tell the truth about the gap, acknowledge its effect, and make a request, apology, or repair where one is needed.
Being satisfied can then become a way of participating in the relationship rather than a verdict delivered after every grievance disappears. The people and history remain. What changes is the conversation from which they meet one another now.
