Meaning Making Machines
We make meaning quickly. An event occurs, and a story about what it means begins to organize how we feel and act.
That story may help us understand what happened, but it is not the event itself. Noticing the difference gives us room to ask whether the meaning we made is accurate and whether another response is possible.
