Emotion Is Information, Not Instruction

Emotion changes what looks urgent.

Fear says move.

Anger says confront.

Shame says hide.

Longing says reach.

The signals can be valuable.

They can also be incomplete.

An emotion reflects some combination of perception, history, physiology, interpretation, and present conditions.

Treating it as information preserves its importance without making it sovereign.

What is this feeling telling me?

What threat, loss, value, or desire is it responding to?

What facts support the interpretation?

What action would I still endorse after the intensity changes?

This is not emotional suppression.

Ignoring emotion loses information too.

The distinction is between listening and obeying.

Emotion deserves a place in the decision.

It does not need to be the entire decision.
