Broccoli Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 broccoli, medium-sized head, separated into small florets, cut into small even-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil / olive oil
  • 4-5 curry leaves, fresh
  • ¼ tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1½ tsp garam masala powder (optional)
  • ¾-1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Heat oil in the pan; add the curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, and cumin seeds. As they begin to change colour, add the garam masala powder, followed by broccoli. Sauté well.
  2. Sprinkle a little water. Add salt to taste. Stir for about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Once the broccoli is soft, add pepper powder and cook for half a minute.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat. Add the lemon juice and stir.
  5. Serve with rice, roll into chapatti, or use in a sandwich if desired.
