A Problem Can Reveal a Larger Commitment
A problem asks for a response. If a plan fails, we repair what failed. If someone needs help, we attend to the need in front of us. The immediate work matters.
Sometimes that work also reveals a larger question. Why was the plan so fragile? What support would keep the same difficulty from returning? Who else lives with a version of this problem? An urgent fix can become the beginning of a more durable commitment.
The wider question should not be used to avoid the present one. Talking about a grand future can be a way of leaving a person without the help they need today. The test is whether our expanded concern produces more responsible action, not just a bigger idea.
Solve what is here. Then notice whether this difficulty has shown us something else worth taking on.
