A New Freedom Can Feel Unsettled
We may imagine that changing a long-held pattern will feel immediately clear. Once we stop doing what no longer serves us, we expect to know exactly what comes next.
Often the first feeling is less certain. The old response was familiar, even when it was costly. Without it, a situation has more room in it, and we may not yet know how to use that room. Unsettled does not necessarily mean we made the wrong choice.
We can give the new space some time. Notice what the old pattern used to settle for us. See which choices are now possible. Ask for support if the change brings distress or practical consequences we cannot manage alone.
Freedom is not always a sudden feeling of ease. Sometimes it begins with a pause in which we are no longer required to be the person we had practiced being.
