You Do Not Have to Solve Tiredness Before Showing Up
Tiredness can become a condition we believe must be solved before anything else can begin.
Sometimes that is exactly right.
Severe fatigue, persistent exhaustion, sleep deprivation, illness, medication effects, or unsafe drowsiness deserve rest, evaluation, or other appropriate care.
But not every ordinary feeling of tiredness carries the same instruction.
There are moments when we can bring tiredness with us.
Attend the conversation while tired.
Take the walk more slowly.
Do the smaller version of the task.
Participate without requiring ourselves to first manufacture energy we do not currently feel.
The distinction is not between toughness and weakness.
It is between listening to the body and automatically making one feeling the sole decision-maker.
Sometimes the body is saying stop.
Sometimes it is saying I am tired.
Those are not always identical messages.
Showing up does not require pretending tiredness is absent.
It can mean allowing the tiredness to be present while choosing, carefully, what participation still makes sense.
