Transformation Tourism
Buying a diet book is different from changing what we eat. Filling a prescription is different from following a treatment plan. Watching a course is different from doing the work it asks of us. We can visit the language of change without making a change.
Transformation tourism names that gap between exposure and participation. Looking can be useful; it may show us what is possible. But if the inquiry ends there, the new material becomes another experience we have consumed.
The next step is usually less dramatic: practice, support, a decision, or a repeated action that tests what we say we have learned. Change takes place in life, not only in our interest in change.
