The Chores Are Part of the Life

Traffic, bills, laundry, messages, cleaning. It is tempting to place all of them on one side of a line and put real life on the other. Once these interruptions are cleared, we imagine, living can begin.

Some demands are excessive and should be changed. We can simplify a process, share work, refuse an unnecessary obligation, or seek help. But even a well-arranged life still needs maintenance. People eat, homes need care, promises create tasks, and time passes while we attend to them.

The distinction is easy to miss because ordinary work seldom feels like the point. Yet it is part of the life we say we want to live. How we handle it affects the people who share that life and the attention left for what we love.

We do not need to praise every chore. We can stop treating all of them as evidence that life has not started yet.
