Resentment
Resentment is often carried as though holding it could make the other person feel what happened. In practice, the person carrying it may bear much of its weight.
That does not make the original harm acceptable or remove the need for accountability. It asks whether keeping the hurt in this form is protecting anything we still need, or only asking us to swallow the same bitterness again.
