Open Time Does Not Need to Be Optimized

A full calendar makes value easy to see. Something is due, someone is waiting, and each hour has a job. Unscheduled time can therefore look empty.

Not every useful hour needs an immediate deliverable. Open time can support recovery, reflection, reading, conversation, wandering attention, or work that could not be predicted in advance. It can also simply be rest.

Structure and commitments still matter. The question is whether every unclaimed interval must be treated as a failure to optimize.

Unscheduled time is not automatically productive. It does not have to become productive to be legitimate.
