Happiness Does Not Have to Wait for the Finish Line

Happiness can become elusive when we place it permanently after something else: an achievement, a repaired relationship, more money, or a solved problem. Each finish line can reveal another condition.

This is not a demand to feel good. Pain, grief, illness, and material difficulty deserve care. It is a question about whether preferred circumstances and every possible moment of happiness must be identical.

A good result can bring relief or pleasure. An unwanted one can bring disappointment. Neither proves that joy is allowed only when life matches our plans.

Goals can guide what we do next. Happiness need not live only at the end of them.
