Distribution Is Not the Same as Understanding
A new format can multiply the reach of an idea.
Writing becomes audio.
A conversation becomes a podcast.
A lecture becomes a clip.
A local discussion becomes available to people thousands of kilometres away.
That change matters.
It is easy to confuse it with a second change that may or may not occur.
Understanding.
Distribution answers a question about access.
Can people encounter the material?
Understanding answers a different question.
What did they actually distinguish, question, misunderstand, test, or integrate?
A million impressions can carry very little understanding.
A ten-person conversation can alter how each participant sees a problem.
Neither scale nor intimacy guarantees depth.
The point is to stop using one as evidence of the other.
Media strategy can improve availability.
Good explanation can improve clarity.
Practice and dialogue may deepen understanding.
Those are different jobs.
Reach matters.
It should not be asked to prove that the message landed.
