Considering a Bad Outcome Does Not Make It Happen
When we want something deeply, it can feel dangerous to ask what happens if it does not work out. We may worry that giving the unwanted outcome attention will somehow invite it. So we plan for success and leave the harder question untouched.
Considering a possibility does not cause it. A careful look may reveal what support we would need, which commitments would remain, and what choices we could make next. It can also show which fears are larger than the facts available to us.
This is not a demand to rehearse disaster without end. If the thinking becomes circular or overwhelming, it may help to pause or speak with someone we trust. The point is to make room for a practical question, not to live inside the worst case.
Hope and preparation can stand together. We can work toward the outcome we want while knowing that our life will still need care if it turns out differently.
